For sea lovers, the West of Central Portugal offers beaches with perfect waves. Visit Peniche the “capital of the wave” and the famous Supertubos Beach, which hosts world surf competitions – World Surf League.
Then travel around 50 kilometres along the coast to the “Canyon da Nazaré” in Praia do Norte and admire the splendour of nature with giant waves that rise to more than 30 metres in height, where surfer Garret Macnamara holds the world record for the biggest wave surfed.
An hour away, you will find the wave that is considered “the biggest right in Europe”, at Praia de Buarcos, Figueira da Foz. Extend here, the feeling of “spiritual lightness”, as described by a resident surfer.
